Don't let this happen to you!

A 22-year-old woman from Okotoks, AB was hiking in the Grand Canyon when she slipped on a loose rock and broke her ankle. She was evacuated from the canyon by helicopter and transported to a nearby clinic. The clinic was unable to deal with the injury, which turned out to be a complicated break, and the patient was transported to the nearest facility that was equipped to perform the necessary emergency surgery. She remained in hospital overnight and was discharged the following day.

I know what you are thinking.  I don’t hike and I don’t travel to the U.S.A., so I don’t need to buy travel medical insurance coverage.  But what if we told you that this claim took place in another province in Canada?  People don’t realize this, but their own Provincial Medical Coverage has limits as to how much they will pay when you travel outside of your home province and it will not pay for medical evacuation, ambulance, dental, and prescriptions.  In addition, they may not even pay for all of the doctor and medical expenses, depending on what the provincial allowance is for such costs.

And of course, costs only increase when you are traveling outside of Canada, especially to the U.S.A..

There are plenty of different coverage options out there. Since Travel Medical Insurance is not regulated by the Government, no policies are the same.

Why buy Travel Medical Insurance?

  1. Let the insurance companies medical staff talk to the people treating you in their native tongue.

  2. You would rather spend your money on a new car rather than hospital medical bills.

  3. Have someone working for you to ensure you get the best care available.

We also have great coverage options for snowbirds going down into the states. We have multiple travel insurance companies that we can shop around to find the best rate and coverage for your specific needs.

There are also great coverage options for people that take multiple trips throughout the year. Usually an Annual Multi Trip policy is less expensive than 2 single trip policies. Give A-WIN Insurance Airdrie a call so we can discuss the type of Travel Medical Insurance that will suit you best.
